At TriStar StoneCrest, we provide emergency care for adults and children experiencing all types of injuries and illness, including heart attack, stroke, flu and viral illness. Our experienced ER teams are specially trained to stabilize, manage and diagnose patients with acute illness and injury.

As part of our commitment to our community, StoneCrest Medical Center’s emergency room includes pediatric experts to care for your child.

ER wait times

TriStar StoneCrest has the shortest ER wait time in Smyrna. Our expert triage team assesses each patient as they arrive so there is no wait time for potentially life-threatening conditions, such as chest pain or stroke.

Our emergency room is here to offer you quality, compassionate care. At times we may experience delays from the lack of beds, obtaining test results, multiple ambulance arrivals of critically ill patients, or a cardiac arrest patient. If any of these occur, your waiting time may be increased, however, the quality of your care will not be affected.

What to expect at the ER

Triage

When you arrive in the ER, a staff member will direct you to the appropriate person to receive service. Nurses help "sort" incoming patients according to the severity of their illnesses or injuries. Remember, emergency rooms always treat patients in critical condition first. Your health and comfort matter to us, so please be patient as we assist patients with more life-threatening conditions.

Provider exam

During your visit, you will be evaluated and treated by a physician, physician assistant or nurse practitioner. Physician assistants and nurse practitioners who work in emergency rooms have advanced education and training to quickly evaluate, diagnose and treat patients experiencing medical emergencies. They are licensed and certified by the state and are under the direct supervision of the physician.

Pre-treatment

After your assessment, the triage nurse may begin testing to determine the severity of your condition. If you require laboratory testing like bloodwork and/or X-rays, your total waiting time will increase. We make every effort to keep you informed on estimated times for these reports.

Exam room

Our ER staff will work to get you in the first available exam room based on your condition. You may receive further assessment and treatment or if necessary, be admitted to the hospital. After your care is completed, your doctor and/or nurse will give you discharge instructions and medication prescriptions (if applicable).

Before you leave, we'll collect information for your medical record.
