“The dedicated men and women of our local emergency medical services are our front-line partners in providing life-saving care for our community,” said Elaine Minton, director of emergency services at TriStar StoneCrest Medical Center in Smyrna, Tenn. “We’re honored to host this annual event so the community may join us in thanking our EMS teams for their service while also learning how to prevent common injuries treated by EMS and our emergency room staff.”

Activities will include food, music, a photo booth, kids’ activities, Rutherford County Emergency Services vehicle displays and safety information. Attendees can explore an ambulance, smoke house (fire safety), mobile command unit and an air ambulance helicopter. Free car seat safety checks will be available and free bicycle helmets will be given to the first 125 children that visit the bicycle safety display.

National Emergency Medical Services Week is recognized May 17-23, 2015. This year’s theme is EMS Strong. According to the National Association of Emergency Medical Technicians, EMS Week is an opportunity to bring together local communities and medical personnel to publicize safety and honor the dedication of those who provide the day-to-day lifesaving services of medicine's "front line."
